The Louvre is the most famous and visited museum in Paris and the world. Unfortunately, the queues to enter it have also become world famous. It used to be possible to stand in them for hours! But these days, to get into the Louvre without queuing, you just need to book a ticket online for a convenient time.
Louvre ticket offices no longer sell tickets to the museum. You can only buy them online, and they are sold out 1-2 weeks before your visit. You can buy just a ticket or a separate tour. Groups with a guide always go without a line. Free admission to the museum is included in the discount tourist cards for Paris (Paris City Card or Museum Pass). But that doesn't mean you can come at any time. You have to book a time slot to visit with a tourist card, too.
The Louvre is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Fridays until 9:45 pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. Choose a time slot that suits you and arrive exactly at the appointed time. Everyone who arrives on time gets in without waiting.
The best time to visit the Louvre is in the morning. If you come early enough, you can safely enter the glass pyramid, take photos there, and then go down to the underground part. Besides, this way you will have more time to see the whole collection - you can stay in the museum all day long.
If you don't like to get up early, then buy a ticket to the Louvre for the afternoon - for 15:00 or 16:00. You will not have much time to visit, but enough time to see the most important things.
